The Rotation (25 August 2023)

Welcome to The Rotation! Every week we drop a few albums that our writers have been bumping the most so that we can share our thoughts on stuff we might not get to review otherwise – Whether it be fresh drops, throwbacks, or underground gems.

wildkarduno – baby evil

Following that raw aggression that artists like Smokingskul & Squillo have made, wildkarduno drops a new five track EP in the same vein. Smokingskul even comes up as a feature from the final track, “slime krew 2,” along with bubbling rapper osamason. wildkarduno doesn’t seem to have quite the bars of Smokingskul, but its made up for with the relentless attitude on the tracks.

IndigoChildRick – Never Coming Down

Prepping for his newest release, Sleeping With Jeans On, his 2017 release Never Coming Down got a spin. Only just seven tracks long, the already established phonk sound from his debut Indigo was done away with for something much more niche. Featuring production from himself as well as ICYTWAT & Nuri, the overall sound is dreamy yet dark as he lets his fashion-dripped raps about personal relationships rip throughout. Clever use of glitches make for abrupt changes, keeping you constantly guessing throughout.

Ralfy the Plug – Old Ralfy vs. New Ralfy

Around the time of Pastor Ralfy 2, it felt as if there was a whole new Ralfy. A completely new flow & unique set of beats made him feel like a brand new artist. Apparently this wasn’t just an assumption, as Ralfy decide to rap against his older self for his newest project. The payoff is fantastic, hearing a younger more energetic Ralfy contrasted a much more laxed & smooth sounding Ralfy works better than it has any right to.
