Getting wilder & wilder every month, sample drill has been an undeniable force. Here we’ll recap some tracks to check out.
Lil Worm – Light Of Mine
Even the kids are getting in on the wave. Going over the classic children’s song “Light of Mine,” the song is flipped into a banger that can go to toe with the adults in the scene. Being young doesn’t change the lyrics though, he still has his own opps to deal with. Continuing on this path, only more great music will come from him.
Fleej Swish x Mhady2Hottie x Velly Vellz – Who Want Smoke
Taking the Nardo Wick song that took the world by storm, we see a NY drill flip of the song. Fleej Swish, Mhady2Hottie & Velly Vellz come through with immaculate energy. Reinventing the iconic hook into gun sounds, this song is just as good as the original.
Jay Paid x Kha Structure x TF Milly x Mar Mar- No Cap
The Neighbourhood showed love for hip hop on their own mixtape. Now their song “Sweater Weather” gets its own NY Drill treatment. Jay Paid in particular comes off insanely smooth on the intro, completely killing it.
26AR X Niiko Suav – Wop Wop
26AR continues to claim king of NY on “Wop Wop.” Sampling Akon’s “Bananza,” they continue their run of loose tracks. Niiko Suav hits a slight melodic flow, changing the pace for the better. The same beat also saw its own treatment on a Sha Ek song, featuring SugarHill Keem & Edot Baby.
Quelly Woo x Set Da Trend – GRAVITY
With their signature deep voices, the duo teams up to make a smoky banger. Contrasted with the light hearted Clean Bandit song “Rather Be,” they repurpose the track to address their opps.
