The NY Drill scene continues to grow with more daring sample choices and flips. Here we’ll go over some highlights.
PJ Glizzy x Wockhardt – PSA
One of the most unique sample flips in this list is brought to us by PJ Glizzy & Wockhardt. It starts with a slowed down version of Kanye’s “Bound 2,” and immediately ramps up into a brand new drill banger. PJ Glizzy & Wockhardt provide the most cold-blooded possible. Within just a few minutes, they seem to diss anyone imaginable.
C Blu – A Christmas Carol (feat. 26AR)
On “Christmas Carol,” C Blu & 26AR reinvent Christmas music. Sampling “Carol of the Bells,” the song is completely reinvented into one of the intense bangers. C Blu & 26AR are dynamic duo on the track, adding to the intensity of it. 26AR verse starts in the coldest way possible for a Christmas track:
GoodDayRay – Iām Goin Up
GoodDayRay takes Post Malone’s “White Iverson” and turns it into an ethereal drill banger. The sample provides this spacy feeling, while the drums keep everything grounded. GoodDayRay feels effortless on the track, saying that despite the many that hate him, he’ll still be going up. If you like this track, his new album Gunhillz Fine$t is out now.
Rello Bands x Stain Blixky – Stay With Me
Sampling the mega hit “STAY” by The Kid LAROI & Justin Bieber, Rello Bands & Stain Blixky turn it into a street anthem. Directly dissing many in the NY Drill scene such as TG Crippy & Kay Flock, the two trade verses in an electrifying way. The hookless track wastes no time, the four verses are merciless. With the release of this track, it proves that anything and everything will be sampled.
