As the drill scene in NY evolves, we recap some of the best tracks of the last month.
26AR – Heavenly
26AR had an endless stream of tracks last month. While he slowed down this month, he comes back with two tracks this month. “Heavenly” uses a beautiful sample with 26AR doing a love song, well as much of a love song as you’ll get out of the NY Drill song. With B-Lovee’s “My Everything” and 26AR’s “Heavenly” it can only be assumed that this trend will be huge.
Eli Fross – Growing Up Gangsta
Sheff G’s producer Great John laces Eli Fross with another hit. While “Exposing Me Part 2” directly addressed his beefs, “Growing Up Gangsta” plays into his hitmaking talents with a Spanish guitar weaved into the beat. Even still, he manages to work in his bars about his gangster lifestyle. Hopefully there’s more to come of this style from him.
B-Lovee – My Everything Part III (ft. G Herbo)
November was a huge month for B-Lovee. He released the video for his biggest song yet, “My Everything.” On top of this he released two different versions to the song, one featuring G Herbo and one featuring A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. With an album that came alongside the different parts, Bizzy Banks did a remix to the song on top of that. G Herbo’s cosigning of the NY Drill wave also comes off the back of the remix of a Kay Flock song. While the album may have not been his best yet, B-Lovee’s newfound level of fame is a great sign of more to come.
DThang Gz – Love DThang
DThang Gz does not give into the hitmaking trends though. While far from his rawest disses, he addresses his opps, along with B-Lovee and Kay Flock. Dthang stays one of the one of the coldest in the scene, so hopefully he can follow through on a whole project of those tracks in the future.
Stain Blixky – Whacha Say
Another entry into the sample drill scene, Stain Blixky drops another track. This track does a flip of Jason Derulo’s Whatcha Say. The melancholy sample paired with Stain’s hard hitting bars work perfectly together. With the release of his upcoming tape Shiggy Tape 2 right around the corner, now is the time to check out his tracks.
