From the Bandcamp description:
When Blueprint released his debut instrumental project Chamber Music in 2004, it took many of his fans by surprise. To many of his newer fans, who had learned about him primarily as the vocalist for his Soul Position collaboration with producer RJD2, they had no idea he was an equally skilled producer. Quite naturally, they were disappointed to hear a Blueprint album that he didn’t even rhyme on.
But to the fans who had been with him since his early days producing albums for Greenhouse Effect and Illogic–Chamber Music was right up their alley. Epitomized by dark, moody beats, bizarre vocal samples, and guest appearances from a who’s who in underground hip-hop at the time (Aesop Rock, Vast Aire of Cannibal Ox, and Illogic), Chamber Music was unlike anything else out at the time. His hardcore fans loved the album, but his casual fans didn’t really understand it.
Coupled with the fact that instrumental hip-hop and the beat scene wouldn’t develop in the United States for another 10 years and Blueprint’s career as a vocalist would take off just one year later, the original Chamber Music album ended up being a slept-on gem in his catalog.
Fast forward twenty years later. After producing multiple solo albums for himself and proving to be a force on production as well as the rhymes, Blueprint returns with Chamber Music II.
Picking up where he left off, the album features guest appearances from Illogic, Blueprint, and The Orphanage (Slug, Aesop Rock, Blueprint, & Illogic). And while the production and musicality has stepped up tremendously, the vibe remains just as dope twenty years later.
Chamber Music II will be released November 5th on Weightless Recordings.
