Welcome to The Rotation! Every week we drop a few albums that our writers have been bumping the most so that we can share our thoughts on stuff we might not get to review otherwise – Whether it be fresh drops, throwbacks, or underground gems.
Texako – KillaKam EP
Enter the woozy world of Texako, a North Carolina-based MC. A product of the Plugg & PluggnB genre, his music features airy beats that he melodically rides through with the help of multiple vocal effects. While he has many short releases, they never overstay their welcome & have something of an addicting quality to them. Just looking at production credits throughout his career; he’s worked with multiple artists that have now gained plenty of traction. Producers like Dylvinci, Cashcache, and Mexikodro have all had production credits with him, and he’s occasionally done some self-production as well.
Rob49 – 4GOD II (Deluxe)
Taking the already explosive 4GOD II album up a notch, Rob49 worked in another ten tracks. Upping the tracklist from seventeen tracks to twenty-seven, the new tracks unfortunately do not provide much more than what was already present. This could have been possibly done to ride off of the hype his feature on Travis Scott’s Utopia had brought, but the new tracks don’t provide anything extra than bloat. That being said, the original 4GOD II still is an intense & worthy experience to listen through.

Trippie Redd – A Love Letter to You 5
This is quite possibly the worst in his A Love Letter to You series. One of the elements that always soured Trippie’s music is the acoustic performances, never quite sounding like full songs but rather short drafts. While those were small moments on albums like the third installment, for whatever reason, he made that the primary focus on this one. It almost feels like a damn miracle when the feature with Lil Wayne hits, providing a whole new sound that isn’t present on the album. If this is truly the last album in the series, it went out with an unfortunate whimper.
